Product Of The Month. January: Wonky Woven Baskets

We thought we’d kick of 2020 with a monthly post on our favourite new arrivals from around the globe. And what better way to start January than with these: they’re wonky, wonderful, wavy and stunningly woven: our Wonky Baskets have been hand crafted in rural communities in Zimbabwe using traditional methods and finest, locally sourced natural sustainable materials. Perfect for leafy green plants in all corners of the home, beautiful as stand alone sculptural pieces, great in bathrooms for storing bathroom bits & bobs and great for tidying toys, hats, scarfs & all manner of oddments. These baskets are made by hand from start to finish and each is completely unique. By purchasing these baskets you’re helping preserve traditional weaving skills for future generations and supporting rural communities by providing a much needed income stream. Ilala palm leaves are used to make these baskets- Ilala is an indigenous plant to Zimbabwe. It is plentiful, non invasive and readily available. Naturally cream in colour, these baskets often have small darker details created from leaves dyed in a strong brew created from roots, bark and organic matter.
